Act preventatively through IT security training!

Security awareness training aims to sensitize employees to the dangers lurking online. Notable examples include phishing emails, spam, viruses, Trojans, social engineering, and much more – the list is long. The human factor is always present in a company's security chain, often representing the weakest link and thus a gateway for attacks. Therefore, a proven method is to empower employees through training and IT security workshops.

IT Security Training & Phish Threats

Another of our products is Phish Threat. It allows you to check whether your employees are proficient in handling malicious emails, so-called " phishing emails ." Agenda

IT Security Training, Phish Threat, Security Awareness, UBV Lanz

In a first step, the Network & System Engineer from redIT, Alex Faes, carried out the security awareness training on site with the employees of UBV Lanz. Because personal contact in order to understand and respond to the direct reactions and facial expressions of the participants is particularly important to us. For this reason, the employees of UBV Lanz AG have been divided into two groups. Afterwards, various points about hacker attacks and their procedures were discussed in around half a day. As a result, a very proactive discussion emerged.

In a second step, our Phish & Threat solution was implemented. This happened as follows: A potential hacker email was sent by UBV Lanz's IT department specifically to the company's employees. There were various warnings in the email for employees to recognize, e.g. b.

  • strange link
  • various spelling errors
  • Pressure is exerted e.g. “Pay immediately!”
  • unknown or incorrect email sender

Employees who had fallen into the trap and clicked on the link were then invited directly to an online training course lasting around 5-10 minutes.

Conclusion

Days later, the employees of UBV Lanz were still discussing intensively the size of the attack potential of hackers and their approach. The participants also benefited in private matters, reports an employee of UBV Lanz. Our Phish & Threat continues at UBV Lanz. The company wants to ensure that both its new and existing employees remain aware of how to use electronic communication and can refresh their knowledge about possible hacker attacks.
