Summer event: With the Lok7 to the Rigi
The weather was sunny, the mood of the redIT employees was happy, and the end of the week was perfect. We were pampered once again and were able to enjoy a trip to the Rigi. But not just any ride, we were picked up by the historic steam locomotive Lok7.
Briefly the historical background to Lok7:
The locomotive number 7 alias Sibni is steaming towards the Queen of the Mountains again. The steam locomotive was built in 1873 by the Swiss locomotive and machine factory SLM in Winterthur. In 1937, after 64 years of operation, she was scrapped. They were then brought to the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne in 1959 and now they are back on the Rigi. This heartfelt wish became reality, not least thanks to the Rigi Historic Foundation made possible. The foundation is committed to preserving the historic vehicles and buildings on the Rigi.
So we redIT employees were able to enjoy the special trip last Friday afternoon. The journey took around 1.5 hours, enough time to enjoy the view and a fine drink. Once at the top, we took an easy hike to the Chäserenholz alpine restaurant and were introduced to cheese and butter production on the Rigi by cheesemaker Franz Toni. Afterwards we could look forward to a delicious Alpine barbecue.
After a few hours of cozy get-together, it was time to go again. We decided on a light digestive walk and headed to Rigi Staffel. From there we took the train back to Goldau. A great day with lots of impressions and cool events came to an end.
As always, an all-round successful employee event. – You too DU next time?
