Vulnerabilities in Outlook and Adobe Acrobat

Outlook

The preview window in Outlook is currently affected by the security vulnerability (CVE-2024-21413) an attack vector for attackers. The vulnerability allows attackers to bypass the protected Office view and open the file in edit mode instead of in protected mode. In order to close the security gap, Microsoft recommends that you immediately carry out an Office update.

Adobe

Adobe Acrobat and Reader are vulnerable on Windows and macOS (CVE-2024-20726). Adobe has published that several vulnerabilities are classified as “critical”. The manufacturer did not provide any precise information regarding the exploitation of the security hole. However, attackers can trigger memory errors when opening PDFs and thus load malicious code onto the systems, which can completely compromise a computer. Adobe recommends carrying out an update immediately.
