It will also be possible for you to chat with customers in the waiting area before a virtual appointment. Learn more about Microsoft Teams Premium in our blog.

Avatars in Microsoft Teams

You can now simply switch your avatar live instead of your video camera. The avatars are customizable so you can create one that best represents you.

To get started, add the “Avatars app” from apps on the left side of Teams and create your first, custom avatar. Then turn off your camera before or during a meeting and select below More options > Effects and avatars out of. There you can select, create or display the existing avatar.

Even more collaboration across your channels with the new Notes tab

The new Notes tab lets you add/search notes, share files, and more across your channels. The Notes tab will now appear by default in channels you create. For the existing channels, you can add the Notes tab manually.

You can find more information about this here.

Personal meetings

Whether you're meeting in the office or joining colleagues for lunch, you can now set your Teams calendar to be personal/private meetings. These meetings appear in your calendar but do not have chat threads or other virtual meeting features. To schedule the meeting offline, turn off the toggle next to «Online meeting».

Manage automated call prompts, announcements and more

Change your call queue and auto attendant without leaving Teams. You can also update your business hours, store music on hold and much more. To make changes, select Settings > Calls > Call queue or auto attendant.

In our blog post about Modern communication find out more about it.

Raise your hand and lower it again

Never forget to put your hand down in a meeting. This is exactly why Teams will automatically lower your hand when it detects that you're done sharing.

Improve video quality with green screen

The new “green screen” feature makes you look sharper and clearer in Teams meetings. You can also use props without distorting your virtual background. To use the green screen, you need a solid color background or a wall in the background. It works like this:

Switch to Settings > devices and activate the toggle button «Green screen/green screen»to apply it in the next meeting.

Keep invited participants updated with reminder emails

Let users know your webinar is coming soon. Email reminders include the event name, date and start time of the meeting and are sent one hour before the start time. To manage reminder emails, open your meeting entry in the Teams calendar and go to Communication > Reminder email.
