Microsoft 365 Business Premium: New add-ons for greater security and compliance
Since September 1, 2025 Microsoft is offering new add-ons for Microsoft 365 Business Premium. This expands the popular productivity package for SMEs with additional features in the areas of Safety and Compliance expanded – with three new suite offerings and clearly defined license limits.

Microsoft Defender and Purview Suites for Business Premium (Combination offer)
💡 Important: All three add-ons are on 300 subscription licenses per customer limited – analogous to the existing license limit of Microsoft 365 Business Premium.

Requirement: Active Microsoft 365 Business Premium license
License limit: Max. 300 users per suite
Available from: September 1, 2025
Note on mixed licensing: Combining Defender for Business (standard in M365 BP) and Defender Suite may impose limitations. Full licensing of all users with Defender Suite is recommended to enable the advanced features.

Can I switch from the current E5 Security Suite to the new Defender Suite?
Yes, switching is possible starting with the October 2025 billing cycle.
What to do if there are more than 300 users?
Microsoft recommends switching to enterprise plans such as Microsoft 365 E3/E5 or Defender for Endpoint Standalone for users with 301 or more. Temporary license limit overruns are possible, but not a permanent solution.
