PILATUS-BAHNEN AG provides access to Mount Pilatus from two sides with tourist railroads. From Kriens, Mount Pilatus can be reached all year round by a gondola lift and an aerial cableway. From May to mid-November, the world’s steepest rack railroad runs from Alpnachstad to Pilatus Kulm. Also part of the company are five restaurants and two hotels, four souvenir stores and the largest rope park in Central Switzerland. It is part of the strategy of PILATUS-BAHNEN AG to offer all tourist services from one source. Around 60% of operating income is attributable to the «Transport» division. PILATUS-BAHNEN AG has a broadly diversified mix of guests. During the peak season, more than 250 employees are enthusiastically committed to serving national and international guests on Mount Pilatus, thus enabling exciting mountain experiences with a heart-pounding guarantee.

 

Initial situation

The printer environment at PILATUS-BAHNEN AG proved to be very heterogeneous. Thus, printers of the most varied types from the brands Sharp, HP, OKI and Brother were in use. A total of 29 printers were in use, with only about 50% connected to the LAN and the other half connected locally. Due to the heterogeneity of the printers, the management of toners was inefficient and costly. In addition, certain printers (such as two larger multifunction devices) had reached the end of their life cycle and also needed to be replaced from a technical perspective.

Solution

Within the redIT team, we discussed the information available to us and, taking into account the known background and facts, created an adequate offer around Printing Services. This with the goal to continuously improve the cooperation with PILATUS-BAHNEN AG and to promote the holistic aspect of IT consulting and support. One of the goals was to reduce the amount of equipment without compromising individual needs and productivity due to distances. The introduction of a Follow-Me Print solution (optionally on A3 devices) increases security and additionally reduces printing costs by eliminating misprints. In addition, time and device-independent pickup from the print job is enabled.

Introduction of automated toner management

This contract model guarantees the customer full automation of toner and consumables shipping. All devices on the network are monitored by the HP DCC software installed at the customer’s site. Toner is shipped on time directly by HP, directly to the correct location. Precise labeling of the toners allows them to be assigned to the correct device by employees on site. Only original HP toners are used. which are 100% recycled materials.

 

On-site printing and helpdesk

In the so-called MPS contract, the service work is provided by redIT, which has proven itself consistently with all our customers in recent years. redIT’s certified technicians will take care of a quick solution or further measures required to restore functionality should any interruptions occur. PILATUS-BAHNEN AG enjoys an on-site service and a maximum intervention time of the next working day.
