New features in Teams – Did you know that…?

Learn about the 5 new features in Teams in the blog post. – These are presented individually and are the continuation of three previous updates from March, April and May 2021.

5 New features in teams

1. New emoji offer even more variety

With the upgrade from 85 to over 800 emoji, including various new categories and different skin tones for certain emojis, you can express yourself even more easily and precisely because of the much greater variety. Therefore, the visuality has become less and less limited!

2. Which view did you want to share immediately? – Act more focused in teams with improved sharing opportunities

Do you want to share a PowerPoint slide, window, whiteboard or a specific screen?

With the redesigned sharing feature, it’s a lot easier to find the content you are looking for when you need it.

When you are done sharing, go to your meeting controls and select ”Stop sharing”

3. Give and take control of shared content

Give control

If you want another meeting participant to be able to modify a file, help you present or demonstrate something, you can give that person control. You both have control over sharing, and you can take back control at any time.

  1. Select ”Transfer control” from the sharing toolbar.

  2. Select the name of the person you want to give control to.
    Teams sends a notification to that person to let them know that you are sharing the control. While you share the control, they can make selections and other changes to the shared screen.

  3. To take back control, select ”Take back control’.

To take control while another person is approving, select ”Request Control” aus. The other person can then approve or deny your request.

While you are in control, you can make selections, edits, and other changes to the shared screen.

When you are finished, select ”Stop Control”.

4. Zooming in on shared content

Want to get a better view of shared content?

Click and pull to display different areas.

And to zoom in or out, try the following:

  • Press inward or outward on your keyboard.
  • Use the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+Plus sign and Ctrl+Minus sign.
  • Hold down the Ctrl key and scroll with the mouse

5. Set up your absence status directly in Teams

With the new feature in Teams, whether you’re away for two weeks or just one morning, you can set up your away status and auto-generated response the same way, using the Teams desktop or from the web app.

Similar to Outlook, it is possible to personalize the automatic reply and select how long the automatic reply is sent.

How to set up an out of office status:

  1. Option: In Microsoft Teams, select your ”Profile Picture”, in the next step click ”Set Status Message” and finally click ”Schedule Time Away”.
  2. Option: Select ”Settings”, after that click ”General’‘, ”Absence” and choose ”Schedule”.
